Welcome to the ‘Solinia’ website.
Solinia is a Peruvian non-profit association developing programs for the conservation and protection of animals in the Peruvian amazon basin, more specifically the aquatic mammals. Our association is headquartered in Iquitos, in the Loreto Region of Peru. The RUC (peruvian VAT) is 20541183923.
The name Solinia is derived from Sotalia & Inia… with reference to the sun (“sol” in Spanish).
Currently, Solinia works on a number of different projects regarding river dolphins:
- Education and communication.
- Scientific research and observations.
- Conservation initiatives.
- Legislation and policy.
The main objective of these projects is the conservation and protection of the Tucuxi (Sotalia fluviatilis) and the Boto (Inia geoffrensis) in Peru.
